WhatsApp Chat to PDF

Export a conversation from WhatsApp, drop the file here and get a dated, printable PDF transcript with names, timestamps and photos in place. Chats are among the most private files that exist, so this tool has no upload step at all: the conversation is parsed and laid out entirely inside your browser.

TXT ZIP

01 / Fast steps

  1. In WhatsApp, open the chat, tap the contact or group name and choose Export chat, with or without media.
  2. Drop the exported file here: the .txt alone or the .zip that includes photos.
  3. Download the PDF transcript.

02 / Best for

  • Keep a dated record of a conversation for a legal dispute, an insurance claim or an HR complaint.
  • Print a chat with a client where a verbal agreement, a quote or a delivery date was settled.
  • Archive the conversation of a group before leaving it or before changing phone.
  • Preserve messages from a person who matters, with photos, in a format that will still open in twenty years.

03 / Why here

  • The conversation is never uploaded: parsing and layout run inside the browser tab, which is the only honest way to handle a private chat.
  • Reads both export dialects, Android and iOS, including their date, time and language variants, and keeps multi-line messages intact.
  • Photos from a "with media" export are embedded in place; voice notes, videos and documents are listed by file name so the record shows they were sent.
  • The PDF looks like the chat itself: your messages on the right in green bubbles, the other side on the left, with date chips between days and page numbers for citing.
  • Emoji and every alphabet render correctly, because the text is drawn by your own device, not by a server font.

04 / Keep in mind

  • Pages are rendered as images to keep emoji and all alphabets faithful, so the text of the PDF is not selectable and the file weighs more than a text-only PDF, around 200 KB per full page. The export .txt itself remains your machine-readable copy.
  • Voice notes, videos and documents cannot be played inside a PDF: they appear as named placeholders.
  • A chat exported without media contains only the markers WhatsApp writes, so photos can be listed but not shown.
  • WhatsApp exports the most recent part of very long chats (up to 40,000 messages without media, fewer with media): that is a WhatsApp limit, not a limit of this tool.

Questions & answers

01How do I export a WhatsApp chat?

On both Android and iPhone, open the chat, tap the contact or group name at the top, scroll down and choose Export chat. WhatsApp asks whether to include media: without media it produces a small .txt file with the whole transcript, with media it produces a .zip containing the transcript plus every photo, voice note and document it still has. Send the file to yourself by email or save it to your files, then drop it here.

02Is a PDF of a WhatsApp chat valid as evidence in court?

It can be, as supporting evidence, and courts in many countries routinely admit printed chats, but the rules vary by jurisdiction and by case. A transcript you produced yourself can be challenged, since a text file is editable; stronger forms of proof include showing the chat live on the phone, a certified forensic acquisition, or a notarial deed. This tool renders the export faithfully and adds nothing to it, but it cannot certify authenticity: for a serious dispute, ask a lawyer what your court accepts.

03Why do some messages say media omitted?

Because the chat was exported without media. In that mode WhatsApp replaces every photo, video and voice note with a short marker in the text file, and the files themselves are not included, so no tool can show them. Export the chat again choosing Attach media and the photos will be embedded in the PDF.

04Is my conversation uploaded to a server?

No. The export file is read, parsed and laid out as a PDF by JavaScript running in your browser tab, and the finished PDF is written straight to your disk. A chat is one of the most private documents a person can hold, which is exactly why this tool was built without any upload step. You can verify it: the conversion works even with the network disconnected, once the page has loaded.

05Why is the text in the PDF not selectable?

The pages are drawn as high-resolution images. That choice is what makes emoji, accents and every writing system come out exactly as they look on your phone, using the fonts of your own device. A text-based PDF would need a single font capable of every script and emoji, and would still get right-to-left text wrong. If you need machine-readable text, keep the exported .txt next to the PDF: it is the same content.

06Is WhatsApp Chat to PDF free?

Yes, completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark, no page limit and no per-conversation fee. It runs in your browser, so your chats never leave your device.
